The Mid Glamorgan branch of CAMRA, founded in July 1975, covers Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil, and the Rhymney Valley area of Caerphilly.

One of our main annual projects is selecting the local entries for the Good Beer Guide, for which branch members visit and check out a lot of pubs, and vote on which to choose.

We also run Pub of the Year, Club of the Year and Cider Pub of the Year competitions where members visit the nominated pubs/clubs and complete judging forms for each one. You will see certificates for these competitions displayed at a number of pubs and clubs in the area.

We have a good attendance at the regular branch meetings, which are held at 8pm on the second Monday of each month in pubs across our area. Forthcoming meeting dates and venues can be found in the Diary section. We also have social and/or campaigning visits from time to time in local pubs or at one of the growing number of breweries in our area.

Although the number of pubs in the Valleys selling and actively promoting real ale is steadily increasing, we aim to work closely with licensees and brewers to continue to raise its profile. We are very fortunate in having several new breweries set up throughout our branch area and their beers are getting more widespread. The area is also home to a few cider producers, which we also support and promote.
