This welcoming town pub can be found a short walk from the shops, rail and bus stations. One real ale is usually available and good-value lunches. Wednesday is quiz night and there is live acoustic music on Thursday. The pub sign portrays the choral conductor and brewer Caradog (Griffith Rhys Jones), a famous son of Aberdare.

Housed in the former National School building in the centre of Aberdare, the Grey Trees brewery tap opened its doors on 5th July 2019. Offering up to 6 real ales (5 from the Grey Trees range plus one guest), 7 craft kegs and 2 real ciders. Highly Commended in the 2024 Mid Glamorgan Branch Pub of the Year compeition.

Traditional and welcoming valley pub, on the corner of Whitcombe Street, close to the main shopping area and thriving market. Single main bar with pool room to the rear. Sports TV often plays, but is rarely obtrusive except on major rugby match days. Children are welcome until 9pm. Occasional live music. Approximately one mile from the Dare Valley Country Park, with great walks and pitches for (pre booked) campers and touring vans.

Innovative micropub in a former newsagents. Craft beers are the main feature but you might also find draught cider and very occasional cask ale. Popular with locals and visitors alike, it is the only pub in this large village. Hosts live bands and singers at weekends and occasionally karaoke or comedy. Modernised, traditional pub in the heart of Bedlinog with an emphasis on providing good quality food and drink alongside luxury accommodation in their B&B. Two real ales are usually on offer plus a range of Gwynt-y-Ddraig bottles in the fridge. Regular special events are held, including a Thursday evening curry club (normal menu not available this day).

Large multi-roomed eatery on main road close to the Industrial Estate

Secluded pub set in a picturesque hilltop forest. Access is easiest from Caerphilly Mountain, but also along country lanes from Pantmawr and Tongwynlais. With its inviting open fire, the bar is popular with ramblers, and dogs are welcome. There is a garden at the front and an outdoor heated area for smokers.

Following a period of closure in Spring 2019 for extensive refurbishment this pub, previously the Village Arms, re-opened on 5th July back under its original name of Fagins.

South Wales breweries’ beers are often on tap, with varied styles. Weekly events include a Quiz on Tuesdays, Poker on Wednesdays, Rock’n’roll Bingo on Thursdays, and occasional live music. The smaller bar often has live football or rugby coverage. A large room is available for functions, and has dartboards for casual players and the teams in the local pub league. A south-facing patio is particularly popular on sunny days.

Pub originally built by Phillips Brewery of Newport and named after John Capel Hanbury, the Pontypool ironmaster. It is located a short walk up the hill from Gilfach Fargoed rail halt and is served by bus services from Bargoed, Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly and Newport, which stop outside. The interior is of a classic early 20th century design. Most of the multi-room layout is intact including a dark wooden carved bar counter, giving a real glimpse of the past.

Free house at the northern end of Taffs Well. Three handpulls on the bar, two serving ale and one serving cider. Small independent brewers favoured with big hop flavours a common feature. A range of local and national craft beers is also available. Good-value meals (kitchen closed Sun eve and all day Mon). Buses stop nearby and Taffs Well railway station is a level 15 min walk to the south.

A busy but welcoming village pub and restaurant. The four handpumps serve three regular beers plus one guest. The busy staff are always friendly, an ambience the landlord and landlady encourage.

Large family friendly food focussed pub on main road.

Rural stone-built pub next to Groeswen Chapel with commanding views over Caerphilly. Usually four changing beers (including one dark) are available. Three Williams Brothers ciders are available in bottle. Popular with walkers and cyclists using the nearby Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk. Road access is easiest via Nantgarw or Hendredenny.

Known locally as The Bog, this friendly pub has been in the same family for more than sixty years. The immaculate decor features oak furniture, gleaming brassware and memorabilia everywhere you look. Only cash is accepted at the bar (no cards), and an original Victorian till is in use. Full of warmth and character with roaring fires in winter. This out of the way pub is a very comfortable rarity. Branch Pub of the Year 2024. Under 18's are not allowed inside the pub.

Friendly urban town house pub, in the heart of Llantrisant Old Town. The main bar fronts onto the street, and is traditional and welcoming. A second room at the back is mainly used for dining. Food is served from Wednesdays through to Sundays. A public car park directly opposite is handy.

A welcoming free house popular with all ages. There are three rooms off the bar with an eclectic range of furniture and fittings, including cosy sofas and real fire in one. The two real ales are predominantly from south Wales and the border counties, often with at least one such as Brains Reverend James or a Wye Valley beer. In addition to darts and cards, there is a quiz on Tuesdays and occasional live music at weekends. Buses stop outside and parking is available a short walk away.

Busy pub in the centre of the village. The interior is semi open plan, with exposed stone walls and timber. The pub hosts quizzes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, a jamming night on Thursday and a band or singer on Saturday evenings. Free tapas sometimes available early evening on Sundays.

Remotely situated high in the forest between the Cynon and Rhondda Fach valleys. Pub comprises a comfortable lounge/bar with sofas and wood-burning stove. Wetherspoon pub in the centre of Merthyr Tydfil town centre, named after the martyr Richard Lewis, better known as as Dic Penderyn. Seating is on the ground floor in the main bar area, with outdoor seating upstairs, overlooking Penderyn Square and the beautiful Redhouse Cymru building.

Close to many local attractions in the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Butchers Arms is located a few hundred metres from Pontsticill Reservoir and Pontsticill Station on the Brecon Mountain Railway. There are outside tables available where you can sit and enjoy the views and bunkhouse accommodation is available for those wishing to stay and explore more of the area. There is a small car park.

Modern micro bar in Pontyclun. The main focus is on craft keg beers, ciders and gins, though very occasionally you might find one cask ale. There is sometimes live music and at busy times, the house next door provides additional capacity.

Formerly a brewery and blacksmithy, this social club was founded in 1983. Although its main aim is to promote the Welsh language and culture, it hosts a diverse range of events, with regular music sessions, in addition to being a social meeting place. The club consists of a bar room and two function rooms- the smaller one upstairs. Beers from local independent craft brewers are favoured, with one cask beer and a range of bottled beers. Usually closed Sunday-Wednesday (except by prior arrangement for meetings/events). Visitors are welcome.

The Llanover dates back to the late 18th century and the photos and other artefacts displayed in the pub show its rich history through the centuries and also the changing face of Pontypridd as a whole. There are three rooms, each with their own distinct character, and a large beer garden, where live music features during the summer months. The bar serves up to three real ales, often from breweries uncommon to the area. The pub is located just 5 minutes walk from Pontypridd bus station and close to the museum and historic old bridge. Highly Commended in the branch Pub of the Year competition 2024.

Converted from a shop, this 'no frills' Rhymney Brewery pub (known locally as the Wonky Bar) is situated in the main shopping street. Nearby is the Muni entertainment venue, the historic centre, and the famous old town bridge. Keenly priced ales are offered to an appreciative and varied clientele.

In Victorian times, the area in which this Wetherspoon pub is situated was known as 'The Tumble', from the horse-drawn carts which often overturned as they journeyed to and from the pits. The area was full of pubs but this is now the only cask outlet in the area. Situated close to Pontypridd railway station, this long pub has a bar along the right hand side with various areas for eating and drinking including a raised area at the back. Outside the rear of the pub is an outside smoking area with a view across the River Taff.

Bunkhouse accommodation for up to six guests is available. May close early on quiet weekdays.

Popular and often very busy Chef & Brewer dining pub in a tranquil setting near Rudry Common. Spectacular views can be enjoyed from the large beer garden. The Maenllwyd has won many awards for its food and drink, all proudly displayed near the bar.

Several drinking areas of different character, including a vaulted cellar. The beer garden is very popular with the student population and locals alike, though access is via the upper floor.
