Branch 50th Anniversary Events
A series of events have been held in 2026 to celebrate our 50th anniversary.
To kick off the celebrations a special presentation was made to Lowri at the Farmers Arms, Upper Church Village, where our April Branch Meeting marked 50 years from the date of the first meeting in 1976.
Former chairman Bill Roberts recalls those early days and the high-spirited exploits of branch members in search of unusual and rare beers, and efforts to find pubs to include in early issues of The Good Beer Guide.
Thanks to Bill for compiling an illustrated account of those early years, which can be found here: Branch 50th Anniversary - Early History
A few months later we held a social in Bridgend (part of Mid Glamorgan in 1976). First stop was a visit to the Old Castle Inn, Bridgend and a presentation of a certificate to commemorate the meeting which led to the formation of the branch.
Then we had a short walk to the Coach brewpub, where the celebrations continued.

Still to come will be a visit to the Otley Arms brewpub on Saturday 8th August.
